About Crawford and Company

Established in 1941, Crawford has grown from a small regional operation to the world’s largest independent provider of claims management and related solutions to the risk management and insurance industry, with an expansive global network serving clients in more than 70 countries. Today, the Crawford System of Claims Solutions (SM) offers comprehensive, integrated claims services, business process outsourcing and consulting services for major product lines including property and casualty claims management, workers’ compensation claims and medical management, and legal settlement administration. The company’s shares are traded on the NYSE under the symbols CRDA and CRDB.

Challenge

Crawford and Company engaged a well-known Tier 1 professional services provider to install new virtual server infrastructure. Despite deploying two full-time resources and one week behind schedule, the system was not functioning as promised. Crawfords also faced constant issues with its National WAN solution, impacting performance and business on a daily basis.

Solution

Crawford engaged Acurus to review the situation and diagnose the problem. After reverse-engineering the deployed hypervisor farm and supporting Ethernet switch infrastructure, Acurus quickly identified misconfiguration issues and was able to get the solution up and running within a single day. Acurus followed up with a project to design, deploy, and manage Crawford’s Private Wide Area Network (WAN) across Australia and Asia. Acurus created a new VPLS network across Australia and bonded it with a meshed VPN network to Crawford’s American, Canadian, and Asian branches, performing a seamless transition in a single weekend.
